On Sunday, February 23rd, the Northeast Philly community came together to heal and rebuild after the tragic plane crash that occurred just outside of Roosevelt Mall on January 31st.
Local and State Representatives partnered with The International WeLoveU Foundation for the "Northeast Strong Mega Cleanup" event. This incredible organization, known for its global volunteer efforts, brought over 281 volunteers to help clean up the streets affected by the crash.
The event aimed to demonstrate the community's resilience, unity, and support for those impacted. Volunteers gathered at Roosevelt Mall where a press conference was held with State Rep. Jared Solomon, Lisa Borine from State Senator Christine Tartaglione’s office, State Rep. Anthony Bellmon, State Rep. Sean Dougherty, and Thomas Forkin, Esg., Chief of Staff from the Office of Mike Driscoll.
Following the press conference, volunteers split into 21 teams, cleaning debris along Cottman Ave and surrounding neighborhood streets. Raising Cane’s generously provided 200 boxed lunches for the volunteers.
