At Brixmor, our vision is grounded in the belief that great places start with people. As one of the largest owners and operators of open‑air shopping centers in the U.S., we create and operate neighborhood centers that play a meaningful role in everyday life. Guided by integrity, collaboration, and respect for the communities we serve, we build environments where businesses grow, connections happen, and people feel supported, because the work we do every day shapes how communities live, shop, and come together.

How We Show Up Every Day

Our cultural tenets guide how we think, decide, and work - putting people first, encouraging ideas, building trust, and never settling for good enough.

    People-First

Great real estate matters, but great people matter even more.

  • icon of head with brain

    Smart Decisions

Make smart decisions with the best available info, be decisive and critically assess results so we improve.

  • icon of lightbulb

    Best Ideas

The best ideas often come from those closest to the real estate.

    Healthy Competition & Constructive Conflict

Healthy competition of ideas and constructive conflict are the hallmarks of dynamic organizations that thrive in a competitive environment.

  • icon of handshake

    No Silos

There is no room for politics or silos in a great company, period.

  • icon of checklist

    Accountabilty & Empowerment

For there to be accountability for results, there must be empowerment. For there to be empowerment, roles and responsibilities must be clear.

  • icon of shield with check mark

    Trust

There is huge economic value in trust. Let's work everyday to earn the trust of our teammates, our tenants, the communities we serve and our investors.

  • icon of fire

    Integrity & Passion

Integrity, which requires the courage to confront reality, and passion, which requires that we never accept good enough, must be paramount in all that we do.

Real Examples

Community Connectivity in Action

  • Group of employees holding Donate Here signs in front of a glass storefront

    Day of Service

Each year, we pause business for our Company-wide Day of Service, giving employees a full day to serve their communities in meaningful ways—from food drives and home repairs to park cleanups and knitting blankets for those in need. In a single day, our teams across the country donated more than 3,100 volunteer hours in communities nationwide.

  • 988 Lifeline sign for mental health crisis calls on a parking lot pole with Vons in the background

    Signs of HOPE

We spearheaded Signs of HOPE to raise awareness of the 988 Lifeline, a free, confidential number connecting people to trained mental health counselors. Through industry collaboration, the signs are now visible to more than 4 billion visits annually across nearly 1,500 shopping centers nationwide—reaching people of all ages and backgrounds.

  • Four people in beekeeping gear holding active hives

    Community Beekeeping

We support the natural communities around our centers as well. In Atlanta, 19 shopping centers are home to rooftop beehives cared for by a local beekeeper, creating safe habitats for pollinators. The honey harvested is shared with our tenants, turning sustainability into a local, shared benefit.

Company-wide Day of Service

Brixmor did a good job of making sure that the vision of the broader community was captured.
