The aftermath of the 2024 hurricane season

The devastation from Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton was deeply felt throughout the southern states this hurricane season. With the south being home to many of our properties and team members, Brixmor quickly sprang into action. Our Disaster Assistance Recovery Team (DART), made up of dozens of employees from across the country, worked tirelessly to prepare before the storms and to triage and assess damage after they passed. Many team members were on site as soon as it was safe to travel. Stephen Trommsdorff, VP of Construction, and Robbie Calteaux, Director of Property Management, got creative in assessing our Florida properties that were difficult to access due to road and bridge closures. They took to the skies in a helicopter to ensure they could survey all the damage. DART members set up tenant support centers at damaged properties to assist businesses affected by the severe weather conditions. As Jim Taylor always says, "Great real estate matters, but great people matter even more." Brixmor stayed in communication with our team members in the hurricanes’ paths, offering assistance such as hotel accommodations, generators, and other resources to those directly affected.
