The redevelopment of Shops at Palm Lakes

Brixmor CEO Jim Taylor travels to Miami to visit Shops of Palm Lakes, a 206K SF open-air shopping center located in the densely populated area of North Miami. During this multi-phase redevelopment, we converted a tired Winn-Dixie box to the retailer’s Hispanic concept, Fresco y Mas, better serving the local community and increasing sales by 47%. By recapturing a former Kmart box, we were able to bring in new, vibrant retailers such as LA Fitness and dd’s Discounts, enhancing the already strong lineup of national retailers such as Ross Dess for Less, Five Below and Dollar Tree. We also saw an opportunity to densify the shopping center by constructing more than 44K SF of new outparcel building to add new retail and restaurant concepts, including Chick-fil-A, Aspen Dental, Habit Burger, Panda Express, Crumbl Cookies and Panera Bread. As a result, we drove incremental returns, rate and occupancy. To learn more about Shops at Palm Lakes, visit the links below.
