Yoshihito Hamada

I joined a Brixmor predecessor company in New York City in May 2002 as a Staff Accountant. It was my second job out of college, and I grew with the company becoming Director, Corporate Accounting and moving to Brixmor’s Accounting Center in Philadelphia.

My purpose in serving on our Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Leadership Council is to help move the company in the right direction, as well as finding ways that the company can impact the world on a wider scale. I believe we are in a good place in our culture at Brixmor, but there’s opportunity to do better. 

At the first meeting of the Council, we discussed specific habits and behaviors that foster an environment of inclusion and drive growth in this area for the Company. I believe the question “Why?” is important to ask ourselves: why are things a certain way, and should they remain that way? Trying to understand where others are coming from and finding better ways to connect creates empathy, which leads to meaningful change.
