Patrick Bennison

I’ve been here for over 20 years; initially as an attorney for a Brixmor predecessor company in Boston. After a company merger, I led the legal department for the Northeast Region. In 2013, I transferred to my current position at Brixmor’s corporate office in New York City. 

Diversity and inclusion are things I’ve always cared about, as do my Brixmor colleagues. I’m gay, I’m married and I work with wonderful people who see me for what I can contribute to the team.  I want people outside of Brixmor to know everyone can thrive here, so we can attract the best and the brightest and make our company even stronger.

For me, being out has always been important because I need to bring my whole self to work. I’ve been fortunate, but many LGBTQ people are not free to do that. I’m on this Council to help build a more diverse and inclusive workplace, but also to be a visible reminder to everyone that the path to success is wide open.

Diversity, equity and inclusion are critical for success. I’ve realized how little I actually know. I’m humbled by what I’m learning and excited by what is possible.
